Bonding
Bonding, a chemical process, is how composite resin fillings adhere to teeth, and allows for the replacement of small amounts of lost tooth structure with tooth-colored material that gives a natural appearance. Bonding can be used to repair worn tooth surfaces and close small spaces between teeth. More conservative than veneers or crowns, composites are an excellent cosmetic treatment option where appropriate. However, like natural teeth, composite resin fillings may become stained by certain foods, drinks, and personal habits such as smoking.

Bridgework
Sometimes the effects of tooth decay, injury, or gum disease can lead to the loss of a tooth. The space caused by tooth loss is not only unsightly, it can lead to significant dental problems if not corrected since each tooth works in coordination with its companion teeth. When one is missing it creates an imbalance of bite forces, and allows neighboring teeth to shift and move about. Without replacement, a missing tooth results in added problems later on.

A porcelain bridge is a natural-appearing solution that “bridges” the gap in your smile with a substitute tooth supported by other teeth adjacent to the space left by the loss of a tooth. The adjacent teeth are prepared for full crown coverage, crowns are fused to a substitute tooth (pontic), and the entire structure adheres to the support teeth using dental cement. We use tooth-colored porcelain to create a natural looking, functional bridge that restores your smile.

Crowns
All-porcelain crowns make as dramatic a statement for your smile as porcelain veneers. They can accomplish all of the goals of veneers and more in situations where natural teeth are chipped, broken and damaged. The all-porcelain crown is designed to cover the tooth and fully restore it to a sound condition. The final result is very natural and realistic.

Dental Implants
Today’s best option for replacing one or more missing teeth is implant therapy. An implant is an artificial, surgical grade titanium “root” placed in the jaw structure. In a few weeks the implant becomes integrated with the surrounding bone, creating a secure foundation on which to attach a crown or bridge.

Dental Implants make possible the successful replacement of any number of missing teeth, thereby rehabilitating a damaged smile to full function. But that’s not all – the use of implant therapy provides numerous advantages to the patient over other treatment options, including the following:

Tooth for tooth, it is a one tooth solution per one tooth problem. Unlike a bridge, an implant-supported crown stands on its own and does not involve adjacent teeth or support. This also makes it easier to brush, floss, and maintain sound oral health. Multiple teeth can be replaced with an implant-supported bridge. An implant-supported crown is cosmetically pleasing and natural looking. The presence of an implanted “root” in the jaw structure helps to preserve bone and reduce the tendency for shrinkage that commonly occurs with missing teeth.

Fillings
Tooth-colored fillings, known as composite resins, are nonmetal restorations used to repair teeth that have been damaged by disease (cavities) or injury (chip, crack, fracture, excessive wear). Composite fillings have several advantages over the old metal fillings:

  • The color of the filling can be matched to the natural tooth color.

  • Composite fillings require removal of less tooth structure than metal fillings, and adhere better to the adjacent healthy tooth structure.

  • Composite fillings have no mercury in them (mercury in excessive amounts is a known health hazard). Additionally, composite fillings have demonstrated similar wear resistance and durability to metal fillings while not becoming discolored over time.

  • However, like natural teeth, composite resin fillings may become stained by certain foods, drinks, and personal habits such as smoking.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is a natural mineral found in many foods and drinks, and is one of nature’s ways to help prevent cavities. We often recommend the use of professional-strength fluoride supplements (applied in-office or for use at home) to help make tooth enamel stronger. Fluoride can at times even heal weakened enamel. In the lifelong fight to prevent cavities, adults and children alike stand to benefit from fluoride supplements.

Home-care Tools
Numerous studies demonstrate the beneficial effects of brushing with an ultrasonic electric toothbrush, in fact, we are strong advocates for the use of such toothbrushes. For those who prefer to brush manually, it’s very important to use a soft toothbrush. In addition, there are a variety of other home oral-health aids than can help maintain a great smile and good dental health. Our team tailors recommendations for home care tools to meet your unique circumstances.

Implant-Supported Dentures
A recent innovation for the person missing all of their natural teeth, the strategic placement of a few implants in the upper or lower jaw can provide exceptional support and stability to a denture. Traditional dentures tend to shift and come loose with use, may cause sore spots on the gums, and denture wearers often complain of difficulty in speaking or chewing. Implant-supported dentures can overcome these problems. If you’re interested, ask if implant-supported dentures are right for you.

Invisalign®

There are many benefits to choosing the Invisalign clear braces system:

  • Many times, Invisalign® costs less money

  • Aligners are removable so you can still enjoy your favorite foods

  • Normal brushing and flossing allows you to keep your teeth and gums healthy

  • Invisalign® is more comfortable than traditional metal braces as there are no sharp wires or brackets to irritate the inside of your mouth

Laser Therapy & Treatment
Lasers have been used in dentistry since 1994 to provide therapy and treatment for a number of dental procedures. Specifically, Dr. Bouziden has found success using laser technology for preventive, therapeutic and cosmetic procedures. From laser whitening to temporary relief of minor pain caused by TMJ and many treatments in between the two, Dr. Bouziden is skilled in the use of the latest technology that aides in overall oral health and patient well being.

Nightguards
Do you ever get headaches on the side and back of your head? Do you ever experience tight facial muscles, difficulty in opening your mouth, chipped, cracked, or broken teeth or fillings? If you do then it’s likely you are clenching or grinding your teeth, a condition known as “bruxism”. Bruxism can occur while awake or asleep, and can be extremely harmful to teeth, facial muscles and jaw joints. To alleviate this condition, we can provide you with a specially designed nightguard to wear while asleep. The nightguard not only protects your teeth but also allows your jaw to relax and rest, preventing many of the harmful problems caused by bruxism.

Oral-Cancer Screenings
With more than 30,000 new cases diagnosed each year, oral cancer is the sixth deadliest cancer in the world. Oral cancer claims the life of one American every hour which is why Mustang Family Dental takes this issue seriously and works hard to provide the best detection and prevention methods possible. Early detection is key to prevention, so please don’t hesitate to schedule an exam, including a full oral cancer screening, at Mustang Family Dental.

Partial Dentures
A partial denture is a modified denture for the patient missing only a few teeth. The partial denture is another way to successfully overcome tooth loss when a bridge is not an appropriate solution. Similar to a full denture, a partial denture is removable, yet designed to blend in and fit comfortably when in the mouth. Wearing a partial denture not only restores the bite, but also prevents remaining natural teeth from shifting, tilting or moving into the vacant spaces of missing teeth.

Patient Education
In addition to reinforcing good oral-hygiene habits, we take the time to educate patients about dental health, its effect on overall health, and to answer your questions. A variety of home-health tools and techniques are available to make the job of staying healthy easier and with better results. Each patient is unique, and sometimes just having the right tool to use at home makes all the difference when caring for teeth and gums.

Periodontal-Health Assessment
Worsening gum disease causes bad breath, bleeding gums, receding gums, tooth sensitivity and even tooth loss. But these conditions can be easily prevented with proper oral hygiene, consistent home care, and timely professional treatment. When disease is present, early diagnosis means the condition is easier to treat with effective solutions. Your visit with us includes a complete evaluation of your gums and supportive tissues.

Periodontal-Supportive Therapy
Mustang Family Dental provides an array of nonsurgical periodontal services for patients with and without active gum disease. Timely and regular treatment of your gums through routine professional dental hygiene care of the teeth helps to maintain a healthy smile. Combined with effective home care, most patients will never experience the harmful effects of gum disease.

If you’ve been diagnosed with gum disease and treated for it, ongoing supportive therapy is vitally important to successful management of this condition. According to the American Academy of Periodontology,” … following a course of active treatment and periodic ongoing care at regularly prescribed intervals is essential.” Periodontal gum disease can reoccur, so continuous treatment is absolutely necessary to prevent the infection from becoming active again and destroying the healing that has been achieved.

A periodontal maintenance visit includes the following:

  • Evaluation of oral health to detect any subtle signs of gum disease re-occurrence

  • Assessment of the effectiveness of your home oral hygiene care

  • Appropriate professional cleaning of the teeth and gums

  • Appropriate anti-bacterial therapy to destroy difficult-to-reach bacteria

  • Recommendations of additional in-office and home health aids as needed

Professional Cleaning
Cleaning or dental prophylaxis is the professional removal of the build-up of soft plaque, hard deposits (tartar/calculus), and stain that accumulates on the teeth during the three to six-month period between regular, preventive-care visits. Frequent regular professional dental hygiene care, combined with excellent home oral-hygiene habits, are vitally important in the prevention of dental diseases such as dental decay and gum disease.

Recare Evaluation
Early detection of dental problems can mean easier treatment resulting in financial savings. An evaluation of your dental health is recommended every six months. We check to see that no new dental problems have developed, ensure that existing restorations are in good condition, and confirm the health of your gums.

Root-Canal Therapy
When the vital tissue within a tooth (tooth pulp) becomes infected or damaged, root-canal therapy (endodontic therapy) is sometimes required in order to save the tooth. The treatment can be done with little or no discomfort when carefully managed. Controlling the infection with antibiotics first can calm the infection and alleviate toothache. Once the tooth is calmed, the damaged tooth pulp can be removed, and the space filled with medicated sealer. Afterwards the tooth is made whole with an appropriate restoration such as a filling or a crown.

Multi-rooted teeth are more complex and challenging to treat. Occasionally, teeth that have been treated with root canal therapy may deteriorate over time. Depending on the patient’s unique circumstances, treatment by an endodontist may be recommended. An endodontist is a dental specialist with experience in managing more difficult situations. If such treatment is required, Mustang Family Dental can make a referral to an endodontist that will provide high-quality care.

Sealants
Dental sealants are special coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth (premolars and molars) that create strong barriers against destructive, decay causing bacteria. Timely application of sealants on these teeth helps to prevent cavities on these surfaces. Sealants are another great way to reduce the likelihood of getting cavities and are especially beneficial for children.

Snore Guard
As many as 50-percent of all adults snore, and if you find yourself in that category, you may benefit from wearing a Snore Guard while you sleep. A Snore Guard is a small oral appliance that is used to keep your lower jaw and tongue from dropping back towards the throat and obstructing the airway. Successfully used with patients with typical snoring difficulties, it is not suitable for patients with more serious nighttime breathing problems such as sleep apnea. We can help you determine if a Snore Guard is the right solution for you.

TMJ/Myofacial Dysfunction
Does your jaw pop when you open or close it? Do you experience pain in your jaw joints or facial muscles? If so, you may subconsciously clench and/or grind your teeth. This condition is called bruxism and is often a physical response to stress. Bruxism is a harmful habit made worse by teeth that are not correctly aligned, and can cause chronic tension of facial muscles and lead to sore jaw joints.

Bruxers may or may not be aware of their habit. Common signs of the condition include teeth that are excessively worn down, chipped, cracked, fractured and loosened. Symptoms may include sore jaw joints, headaches, neck pain, tooth sensitivity and gum inflammation.

Depending on the severity of your condition, we can recommend a solution that will help alleviate the problem. One option is a nightguard. A nightguard is a bite appliance worn at night to protect the tissues from harm. We can make you a custom fitted nightguard that will successfully intervene and allow you to rest comfortably at night.

Teeth Whitening
Opalescence Boost is a powerful, whitening treatment applied by your dentist to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. In addition, Opalescence gels include potassium nitrate and fluoride (PF). Findings have confirmed that the potassium nitrate and fluoride actually help to reduce cavities, minimize sensitivity, increase enamel hardness, and improve the overall health of your teeth.

Opalescence Boost is the fastest way to get the bright, white smile you’ve always wanted. In fact, Opalescence Boost is so fast and effective, it offers dramatic results in less than one hour in the dental chair.

Tooth Removal
The goal of dentistry is to preserve and protect the teeth so they can be kept in good health for a lifetime. However, sometimes a tooth is too badly damaged and cannot be saved. We can recommend treatment options to replace a tooth should it be necessary to remove it. Tooth removal can often be done in office and you will receive comfortable, gentle care from our team.

Traditional Dentures
With the loss of teeth, your confidence can be shaken and your appearance can suffer. Traditional dentures are still a worthwhile treatment option for the person who is missing all of his or her teeth, and can restore your confidence.

Veneers
Many of the smile makeovers seen on television are created using porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored facings designed to fit on the front of your teeth and give you a bright, youthful smile. The veneers resemble real teeth yet are able to change their shape and color to improve overall appearance and alignment. Veneers can even close spaces between the teeth where present, and just a few visits
you can have a dramatically enhanced new smile.
